The Sunreef 80 Eco Otoctone is equipped with an integrated solar power system
Those unfamiliar with the world of yachting may find the notion of a sustainable and eco-friendly way to sail improbable. After all, you’re cruising atop a finely balanced marine ecosystem, powered by engines that emit significant amounts of pollutants like carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxide. Luckily for us, the biggest players in the industry are more than aware of the situation and have been striving to innovate to limit the carbon footprint of their yachts.
Among the most recognised in this endeavour is Gdańsk-based shipyard Sunreef Yachts. The latest addition to their fleet, the recently presented Sunreef 80 Eco Otoctone is equipped with advanced technologies that reduce its environmental impact.
Commissioned by a long-time customer, the Sunreef 80 Eco Otoctone features two 180 kW engines and a 550 kWh battery bank, supported by an integrated solar power system. These solar panels are embedded into the yacht’s composite structures, providing a reliable source of clean energy for extended, noiseless cruising. Additionally, the yacht includes a hydrogeneration system that produces clean power while under sail, further bolstering its eco-friendly credentials.
Designed to accommodate eight guests, the Sunreef 80 Eco Otoctone boasts a custom-tailored four-cabin layout. The interiors are contemporary, with designer furniture and natural fabrics creating a sophisticated yet comfortable environment. Panoramic glazing in the main saloon offers ample natural light and stunning views, while the saloon’s layout includes a lounge area with a large sofa and a dining table that seats up to ten, seamlessly connecting to both the aft cockpit and bow terrace.
Outside, you’ll find exterior spaces that been meticulously designed to enhance the outdoor experience. The full-beam aft cockpit, for example, features a dining area with ocean views, a daybed, a drinks bar, and a hydraulic platform suitable for sunbathing and watersports. For casual social gatherings, the bow terrace offers an ideal space for relaxation, while the flybridge, notable for its alfresco dining setup, can be customised for more formal affairs.
If you’re interested in getting on board yourself, the Porto-Vecchio-based Sunreef 80 Eco Otoctone is available for charter, and will be available for cruising in Corsica and Sardinia during the summer.
