According to Earl Bamber, two-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner and factory driver for Porsche Motorsport, the brief when conceiving the Porsche 911 GT2 RS was succinct: it had to be “angry to drive”.
Celebrating its world premiere at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS delivers 700hp and 750Nm of torque from its 3.8-litre biturbo flat six. The result is a 0-100km/h sprint time of 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 340km/h.
An optional Weissach package trims weight by roughly 30kg with the use of additional elements formed of carbon-fibre reinforced plastic and titanium along with magnesium wheels. For the driver, a cockpit of red Alcantara, black leather and carbon-weave trim beckons one to enjoy the drive in full bucket seats. The Porsche Communication Management infotainment system features the smartphone-enabled Porsche Track Precision app as standard.
Accompanying this launch is the 911 GT2 RS Chronograph timepiece, offered exclusively to buyers of the Porsche 911 GT2 RS. Featuring the first clock movement developed by Porsche Design, the chronograph is a flyback while aesthetic details mirror those on the vehicle. A similar timepiece was developed for owners of the 2018 Porsche 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series Coupe, which we profiled here.
