Bell & Ross returns to its core design values as a maker of professional dive watches with the BR 03 Diver Black Bronze, a model presented in a striking yet restrained black-and-bronze palette. It follows earlier bronze creations such as the BR 03-92 Diver Bronze, BR 03-92 Diver Brown Bronze, and BR 03-92 Diver Black & Green Bronze, but this edition strips away the complexity and pares the design back to essentials.
Limited to 999 pieces, BR 03 Diver Black Bronze adopts the updated BR 03 Diver architecture, adds a ceramic bezel insert, and commits fully to a disciplined black-and-bronze aesthetic. The result is arguably the most classic and understated bronze diver in the collection to date.
The 42 mm case is crafted from CuSn8 bronze (92% copper, 8% tin), a maritime alloy historically used for portholes and propellers. Chosen for its durability and warm copper-gold tone, the material develops a natural patina over time, reacting to sea air, humidity, and daily wear — giving each watch a character unique to its wearer.
The dial features a glossy black lacquer backdrop that highlights applied “bathtub”-style hour markers and skeletonised hands, all filled with white Super-LumiNova that emits a green glow in low light for optimum legibility. The unidirectional bezel is crafted in solid bronze with a polished black ceramic insert and white Super-LumiNova X1 markings. It enables precise dive timing while reinforcing the bold monochrome theme.
Despite its laid-back Riviera yacht-inspired vibe, this is a serious instrument. The watch meets ISO 6425 dive-watch standards and is water resistant to 300 metres. A reinforced case, screw-down steel caseback, thick anti-reflective sapphire crystal, and a telescopic screw-down crown with a rubber insert ensure reliability. Powering the watch is the automatic BR-CAL.302-1 (28,800 vph, approximately 54-hour power reserve), displaying hours, minutes, seconds, and date.
Delivered on a black rubber strap and accompanied by an ultra-resistant black synthetic canvas strap, the BR 03 Diver Black Bronze stands as a classic dive watch reimagined — equally suited to a day on a yacht or a serious descent beneath the waves.
