The Men’s Peekaboo ISeeUbag and a new Fendi MAD sneaker, within the brand’s Autumn Winter 2024 collection, nod at MAD’s curvilinear architectural style
Founded in 1925 amid Rome’s stunning architectural heritage, Fendi has long championed multidisciplinary pursuits that celebrate design, architecture, luxury, and fashion on a global scale. This year, this commitment takes centre stage once again with a collaboration featuring bags and shoes designed in partnership with Beijing-based architectural firm MAD Architects.
Under the creative guidance of Silvia Venturini Fendi and Ma Yansong, founder of MAD Architects, the iconic Peekaboo ISeeU bag is reinterpreted with a distinctive twist. Varnished aluminium pieces deconstruct the facade and embellish the handle, a nod to MAD’s signature curvilinear architecture. The bag’s smooth leather is sculpted with wave-like forms, creating a dynamic ripple effect that extends to the bottom right corner.
In footwear, Fendi introduces a slip-on sneaker with the same design code as the bag, continuing the brand’s forward-thinking approach. Boasting an organic, injection-moulded sole, two-tone bubble details, and shaded metallic accents, the design merges form with function. The minimalist stretch laces integrate seamlessly into the shoe’s wavy upper, complemented by a mesh tongue and the Fendi logo set beneath a transparent bubble on the outer edge.
Showcased during the Men’s Autumn Winter 2024 runway show, these creations embody MAD Architects’ approach to contemporary spaces, blending innovative materials and technologies with an Eastern aesthetic inspired by natural forms, advancing the dialogue between man, nature, and design.
