Maritimo Yachts looks to capture a new generation of owners in Southeast Asia with Primus Marine

Here’s some not-so-hot-off-the-press news: Southeast Asia is rapidly growing into a thriving yachting region. With an influx of new wealth and infrastructure investments (as well as unpredictable geopolitical situations in other parts of the world), the region is fast establishing itself as a major yachting destination. Add in its bountiful and closely-packed islands, many of which are mere hours away from each other, and you have a rich playground for both fresh and seasoned yachtsmen to explore.

It’s no surprise then, that Maritimo Yachts, one of Australia’s most iconic boatbuilders, is looking to expand its presence in these waters. The shipyard, renowned for its line of robust and powerful long-range vessels, has appointed Primus Marine as its Southeast Asia dealer, signalling a sustained bid to capture a new generation of owners who are eager to cruise further across the region.

“We’re seeing a growing desire among owners to experience more than what’s accessible on a day trip, to travel further, stay longer, and reach parts of the region that many boats simply aren’t designed for,” says Derrick Nowak, Maritimo’s global business development manager. “That requires a platform built around range, protection, and reliability, which is exactly what Maritimo is known for.”

It’s a reputation that is well earned. Founded by Bill Barry-Cotter, the boating icon who developed three of Australia’s most famous boatbuilders, Maritimo is the culmination of his decades-long experience in building robust and reliable vessels that can cruise the challenging coasts of Australia with ease.

“Maritimo is a highly respected name among experienced yacht owners, particularly those who value offshore capability, efficiency and long-range cruising,” says Howard Prime, CEO and founder of Primus Marine. “We see strong potential in Southeast Asia, where cruising conditions align closely with what Maritimo delivers.”

Under the partnership, Primus Marine will represent Maritimo’s full range of motor yachts and will also support the brand’s participation in the upcoming Singapore Yacht Festival 2026 set to take place at ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove from April 23-26.
