42 South Bridge Road is not the easiest address to find, which suits South Bridge Réserve just fine. The Burgundy-focused private members‘ club has built its identity on being sought out rather than stumbled upon, until now. This exclusive club has expanded with a new public-facing rooftop bar, Attic 42 by SBR, open to anyone with no membership required, offering the first easy way in for those who couldn’t previously find the door.
Run by the team behind SBR, Attic 42 is designed as a lighter, louder counterpoint to the club below it. Attic 42 brings a “house party energy,” according to Managing Director James Moon, skyline views, a wine list that ranges beyond Burgundy to spotlight modern producers, and a room built, in Moon’s words, “for conversation, not ceremony.”
The bar’s signature is an interactive rating system: every glass poured comes with the chance for the drinker to score it, with the average rating for each wine displayed live, shaped in real time by the room. “Attic 42 is SBR without the formality,” Moon says. “Same eye for what’s in the glass, none of the ceremony. It’s where the city can taste what SBR is about before deciding if they want in.”
The rooftop’s arrival coincides with a recalibration of SBR’s access structure. Level 2 is now reserved exclusively for Resident Members, who retain full run of Level 2, Level 3 and Attic 42. Associate Members continue to access Level 3 and Attic 42.
That Associate Membership marks a notable shift for a club that has kept its circle deliberately small. Since its official opening in July 2024, SBR has cultivated a focused following of collectors and curious newcomers around one of the wine world’s most demanding regions, hosting private tastings and pouring bottles that rarely surface in Singapore retail.
At S$150 a month, with no automatic renewal, Associate Membership offers a lower-commitment way into Burgundy. It comes with member pricing on events and private buyouts, one complimentary corkage per month, and the ability to bring up to three non-member guests per visit. Members can convert to an annual Resident or Junior Membership at any point, with the joining fee waived. Crucially, there is no lock-in: members choose month to month whether to continue.
It is a considered move rather than a dilution of exclusivity—the club spent a year establishing its community before widening the door even slightly, and membership remains capped at 250 per city. Attic 42 offers a public, lower-stakes entry point above it, while Associate Membership offers a private, low-commitment one within it. Both are built for the Burgundy-curious, whether that begins with a scored glass on a rooftop, or a monthly membership card.
